Justice admit to stealing samples

Dirty dance-meisters Justice have admitted that they don't clear all their samples. While not clearing samples is hardly unusual, admitting it certainly is, particularly when the source of the samples includes big names like Queen, 50 Cent and Slipknot. "They are such short samples no one can recognise them. The ones from Slipknot, for example, are just tiny bits of the voice," explain the French funksters in an MTV interview. Listening to Genesis, it's hard to spot any sign of Freddie, Curtis or even #8, so is Justice's sampling fair use, or should they really be making their own sounds? (Source: Computer Music)

As we release and launch E-MU's next generation Emulator X3 Streaming Sampling Synthesizer software, E-MU celebrates and is pleased to announce that we will be providing the full version of our Proteus VX Software Sound Module software which includes the enhanced v2.0.1 Proteus X Composer Bank. (a special E-MU tweaked version of the Composer bank) that can be used in all versions of our Proteus X or Emulator X software. Proteus VX is not copy protected or card locked like other versions of our instrument and sampling software, and can be used either as a VSTi or in stand alone mode.

Mixxx is a free, open source DJ software "that gives you everything you need to perform live mixes".

Mixxx is a digital DJ system where wave, Ogg, and MP3 files can be mixed on a computer for use in live performances. Filters, a crossfader, and speed controls are provided. Support for various hardware control methods such as MIDI controllers and vinyl control are also included.

The Beatmaker revolution

It's not free but very cheap (approx USD 20) for having an equivalent of Akai MPC2000 within your iphone and/or your ipodtouch! I tried it during my last trip in Ibiza (especially waiting for my flight in the airport) and it was not only entertainement but indeed you can consider make a real track with it. The only negative aspect is that the general volume button is not implemented yet which is really annoying so plug headphones for a better experience!

ANGSTkILLER v1.5

NOVAkILLER uses the FM Oscillator (such as Yamaha DX7 series) found in ANGSTkILLER but adds Hard Sync and a few other goodies to it's arsenal. Envelopes are simplified, slider-driven ADSR jobbies and Envelope modulation can be inverted for long, evolving pads.
It is as much an exercise in style as substance but still has plenty to offer.

Rhythmic Tangent - Free MultiFx Vst Plug-in

RT is a new multifx for use on Pc computers running Windows (RT is not available in any Mac formats unfortunately). It was made using SynthEdit and some 3rd party modules to keep the cpu down and the feature list up. Matias Monteagudo aka - Spyro, of Klanglabs teamed up with Jeff Rhodes of Perimeter Sound to create this monster.

Rhythmic Tangent features :
1) a compressor,
2) a bit crusher (with special freq enhance mode to really zoom in the effect,
3) multiple effect routings, 4 to be exact, to run the effects in a couple of different ways to expand the presets functionality,
5) In/Out volume controls for easy on-board level control,
6) a dual tremolo effect (please see the .pdf manual for a full explanation of this effect),
7) the macro filter, along with an envelope follower and full featured LFO to go with it,
8) the filter gates effect (see manual for more info),
9) a phaser effect,
10) a simple but useful 3 band equalizer,
11) the delay gate effect, and finally,
12) a very feature packed ring modulator.
